Our Independent Living group students meet after college on Monday’s and Wednesday’s each week and have, with the support of the SEN Team, designed and decorated a magnificent tree to represent Bishop Milner Catholic College in the Red House Glass Cone Christmas Tree Festival – and helped raise money for charity in the process.
Nearly 40 Christmas trees have temporarily taken root at the visitor attraction as part of its Christmas Tree Festival, which runs until 5 January and was officially opened by the Mayor of Dudley on Sunday 17 November. Groups, businesses, charities and individuals have all provided uniquely decorated trees for the display, which will help to raise money for the Mayor of Dudley’s chosen charities through donations. Those submitting a tree have made a £5 donation which will help raise money Macmillan Cancer Support and The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and Black Country.
The Christmas Tree Festival launched ahead of the cone’s annual Christmas weekend on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. During the weekend Santa and Mrs Claus will be at the Red House Glass Cone and the site’s craft studios will be opening their doors. It is free entry into the cone.
The Cone will be open until 7pm on 29 November, with free entry, and we hope that you will be able to visit in person and see the hard work of our students and get into the Christmas Spirit – the pictures below really do not do justice to how wonderful our tree looks!
Special thanks to Mrs Farmer for organising the entry and taking the tree to the Red House Glass Cone to set everything up.
