Pope Francis in 2018 said, ‘ We enter Holy Week with the Lord Jesus in order to celebrate Easter with hearts that are renewed by the grace of the Holy Spirit.’
For Catholics, Holy Week is the last week of Lent. It begins this year with Palm Sunday (April 5th), in which we remember the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a donkey. The Easter Triduum begins with Holy Thursday, where Jesus was with his disciples at the Last Supper from which we have the celebration of the Eucharist. On Good Friday we remember the suffering of Jesus and his death on the cross. Holy Week then continues with the Easter vigil on the night of Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday when the Resurrection of Christ is celebrated.
