5 January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

Following last nights announcement that all schools in England are to close until mid-February at the earliest, I am now writing to clarify the arrangements for this half term.
Remote learning will commence for ALL years on Wednesday 6 January 2021. The college day timings for this period will change to the following:

Period 1 9.00am – 10.00am
Period 2 10.00am – 11.00am
BREAK 11.00am – 11.20am
Period 3 11.20am – 12.20pm
Period 4 12.20pm – 1.20pm
LUNCH 1.20pm – 2.00pm
Period 5 2.00pm – 3.00pm
Tutor 3.00pm – 3.30pm (Wednesday and Friday)

On our return to college for face to face learning the college day timings in place since October 2020 will resume.

Students are expected to log on for their remote learning for all 5 periods via Microsoft Teams. We will also have remote/virtual tutor groups on Wednesday and Friday each week. If any student is struggling to login please contact their tutor or Head of Year as soon as possible.

We will always try and be ‘live’ for the majority of lessons allowing interaction between students and their teacher, however, there will be lessons that will be ‘set work’ due to circumstances beyond the teachers control.

You will shortly be receiving a further letter in the post outlining the plans for Lateral Flow Testing in college, despite us not being able to re-open until after February half term we are keen to collect as many consent forms for this testing. Testing will commence on re-opening, I would appreciate your support with the return of the consent forms prior to students returning.

Those students who are attending as Key Worker children – testing will be taking place in the coming days and I would urge these parents to send their consent forms back with their child as soon as possible.

Year 11 and 13 parents and carers have received a separate letter today following the announcement made last night linked to examinations.
Stay safe and God bless.

Mr R May
Principal
